Nigerian Army Salary 2024, Ranks And Allowance.

The Nigerian Army is the largest component of the Nigerian Armed Forces which consists of the Nigerian Navy the Nigerian AirForce and the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army is responsible for land warfare operations. It is an essential component of military power in Nigeria, with a long history of service and sacrifice. It is said that the Nigerian Army is the backbone of the Nigerian Military.

Nigerian Army Ranks

The Nigerian Army has a structure of ranks that is a standard practice in most military organizations around the world. The ranks are classified into two categories. The Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.

Nigerian Army salary

The commissioned officers are those who joined the Nigerian Army as a graduate or those who went through the Nigerian Defence Academy to be commissioned into the Nigerian Army while those who went through the Nigerian Army Depot are regarded as the Non Commissioned officers.

SSCE certificate holders who join the Nigerian Army are placed at the rank of Private while those who joined the Army with NCE or National Diploma are also placed at the rank of Private. Those that joined the Nigerian Army with HND or BSC are placed on the rank of Second Lieutenant or Lieutenant depending on the commission you joined. Those who joined the Nigerian Army with HND or BSC through SSC are the ones who obtain the rank of second lieutenant while those who joined through the DSSC are the ones who obtain the rank of Lieutenant. Nigerian Army Salary 2024 And Ranks

The Nigerian Army Salary vary based on their rank and years of service. Those who joined the Nigerian Army with SSCE certificate are paid about #50,000 as starting salary while those that joined the Army using NCE or National Diploma are also paid about #50,000 as starting salary. For the HND and BSC certificate holders in the Nigerian Army, They are paid about #120,000 as starting salary.

For the commissioned officers the salary is as follows.

  2. Lieutenant – N180,000
  3. Captain – N220,000
  4. Major – N300,000
  5. Lieutenant Colonel – N350,000

  7. Brigadier General – N750,000
  8. Major General – N950,000
  9. Lieutenant General – N1 million
  10. General – N1.5 million

For Non Commissioned Officers, their salaries are as follows:

  1. Private – N50,000
  2. Lance Corporal – N57,000
  3. Corporal – N60,000
  4. Sergeant – N70,000
  5. Staff Sergeant – N80,000
  6. Warrant Officer – N95,000
  7. Master Warrant Officer – N120,000
  8. Army Warrant Officer – N180,000

It is important to note that the Nigerian Army Salary mentioned above can change at anytime based on government policies and the economy.

Nigerian Army Allowance

The Nigerian Army personnel also receive other benefits such as Training Allowance, other allowances, health care, and pension plans. Below are some allowances which you can expect as a military personnel in the Nigerian Army.

  • Operation Allowance

Apart from the allowances mentioned above, those who are still under training are also paid allowances. For example, Recruits who are under training are paid about N12,000 – N15,000, Short Service Cadets under training are paid about N15,000 – N25,000 monthly while regular cadets in the Nigerian Defence Academy are paid between N25,000 – N50,000 monthly depending on the year of the cadet.
